2014 Pancake Day We held our annual Pancake Day fundraiser on February 8th at Hicks Hall, Rochelle United Methodist Church. This year's income totalled $4,173, which outpaced last year's event by $400. Our Key Club held a 50/50 raffle and netted $195, in addition to the proceeds from their cookie table. Focus House was on hand to help bus the tables, and our members waited on customers, served drinks, and cooked the great pancakes and sausages.

Kiwanis International Eliminate! Project With The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of nearly 60,000 innocent babies and a significant number of women each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. To eliminate MNT from the Earth, more than 100 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take US$110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEF and every member of the Kiwanis family. Kiwanis International has established the Walter Zeller Fellowship award for contributions, by individuals or Kiwanis clubs in the amount of $1,250 or more, toward the success of the project. In 2012, Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K raised $1,250 through a service project in partnership with Wendy's International, where 10% of the sales - the first Monday evening of every month - were reserved for this project. Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K presented Kiwanis International a check for $1,250 in January 2013 in the name of Jim Busse, past president and existing secretary. |
